I am a pastel and encaustic painter, mosaicist, teacher and amateur iPhone photographer with a degree in fine art and education and a background in graphic design. My mosaic and pastel work has been exhibited nationally and is in private collections. I studied with master pastelists in the US (Aline Ordman, Robert Carsten) and master mosaicists in US and England (Verdiano Marzi, Emma Biggs, Sonia King and others) .
I now live in East Falmouth, MA with my husband, two rescue dogs and one cat. Prior to my return to Cape Cod I lived for 25 years in Vermont and New Hampshire.
I study and explore color - the relationships of color in nature and the psychology of color in our personal response to it. The natural world informs my imagery as does my formal knowledge of the grid in graphic design.
I love painting with pastels. My work is now abstract and often starts from a photograph taken of cracks and lines on sidewalks and the street. I use these photographs as a jumping off point that jogs my memory of places seen and visited and these memories makes their way into the painting.
