Laura DiMeo is a multi-disciplinary artist whose materials range from drawing & painting to glass & clay. She chooses materials that best reflect the concept she’s working on. For many years, her subject was sky and deep space, but then the birds came and have since become a dominant theme. Her Nesting series — graphite drawings of birds in flight — are illuminated by a gilded moon egg. The birds’ lightness of being and freedom to roam the skies has become her spiritual muse.
Recently relocated from New York City to Falmouth, DiMeo finds immense joy in the simple act of sitting in her garden listening to birds. Her porcelain Tweet Pots, which combine hand-throwing and hand-building techniques, embody her love of birds. the garden, and making useful things.
DiMeo received her MFA from California College of the Arts, and has exhibited in galleries and museums around the country.
