Stephanie King
 

Stephanie King’s work is rooted in the natural world, particularly land and seascapes full of color, texture and patterns.  Her work is often characterized as a blend of artistic expression and scientific curiosity and is viewed as both a realistic and whimsical assemblage of time and place.  Hand pressing, printing, painting and drawing botanicals and seaweeds offers’ Stephanie unlimited joy and inspiration.  She works year-round from her home studio in Sandwich, MA. With a background in Sociology and Montessori education, Stephanie transitioned into a career in the visual arts in 2023 and established her business, Seaside Botanical Art. Driven by an innate desire to create and an aspiration to effect positive change in herself and her community, Stephanie's art invites viewers to see seaweed and botanicals in new ways. She transforms seaweed and natural materials into art that speak to nature’s fragility and the delicate nature of the interdependence of all living things on earth. Her original pressings and prints have found homes across the country and in restaurants on Cape Cod, MA.  When not in her studio, Stephanie finds inspiration by traveling with her partner to seaside destinations around the world.  This is her fourth year as a member of the Woods Hole Handworks Co-Operative Art Gallery.
