Stephanie King
Stephanie King's work focuses on the exploration of colors, patterns, and textures found within the landscape. With nature as her primary muse, she weaves together her lifelong love of flowers with passion for the sea. Her art medium includes watercolors, acrylic paints as well as materials such as pressed flowers, bark, seaweed, lichen and insect wings. Pressing, painting, printing, weaving and photographing botanicals and seaweeds offers Stephanie unlimited inspiration, joy, hope and education. Her work is both a realistic and whimsical assemblage of time and place; a unique fingerprint of natural history.
For over two decades, Stephanie has been committed to refining her skills as an artist. Prior to becoming a full time artist and owner of Seaside Botanical Art, she taught Montessori education for 15 years. Stephanie stays connected to the arts by participating in art exhibitions (both solo and group shows), teaching seaweed pressing workshops, participating in conservation volunteer work and maintaining memberships in art centers, art museums, botanical gardens and nature preserves. This is her third year as a member of Woods Hold Handworks Co-Operative Art Gallery. She lives and works from her studio in Sandwich.
